BIO:

Mohammad Jawad is a plastic, reconstructive and burns surgeon. He has extensive experience in the treatment of severe burns, including the survivors of acid violence.

Mohammad Ali Jawad is a Plastic, Reconstructive and Burns Surgeon, practicing predominantly in London and throughout the United Kingdom. His time is divided between work for the NHS and a private cosmetic surgery clinic, Nip n Tuck Surgery, for which he is the Managing Director and lead surgeon.

 

After general Plastic Surgical Training he also completed a Cosmetic Surgery Fellowship in London, then he pursued further Cosmetic Surgery Training as a travelling Fellow to California (USA), Rome (Italy), Lyon (France), Liege (Belgium) and Istanbul (Turkey).

 

He has a broad base experience of operating on patients from different ethnic backgrounds from Caucasian, Asian, to Afro-Caribbean, both in reconstructive plastic surgery and cosmetic surgery.  His notoriety was highlighted in the west after he successfully restored a fully melted face of a British Model, Katie Piper, and was featured on My Beautiful face documentary shown on British television in 2009 and around the world in 16 countries, highlighting the fate of acid victims.

 

He has travelled widely to undertake humanitarian projects across the world.  In 2012, a documentary called ‘Saving Face’ won the Oscar for best documentary (short subject).  This film follows Mohammed as he travels to Pakistan and helps women who have survived acid violence by offering them free reconstructive surgery restoring their dignity and helping to transform their lives. It helped bring to light the systematically under-reported problem of acid violence directed towards women by men. It addresses one of the global humanitarian challenges to which Plastic surgeons can respond and are responding.
